The D.C. City Council is on the verge of handing Ticketmaster and Live Nation even more power, and fans will pay the price.
The “Resale Act,” written with backing from Ticketmaster and Live Nation, would tighten their grip on the ticketing market and make it harder for everyday fans to get into the live shows they love.

Supporters claim the bill’s price caps are “consumer friendly.” The reality is that price caps don’t protect fans, they push them into unsafe, unregulated corners of the internet.
When tickets sell out in presales or first drops, fans won’t be able to find real, safe resale options. Instead, they’ll be forced to look on social media and shady marketplaces, where scams are already rampant in places that have tried price caps.
Independent resale also helps fans save money. In 2024, D.C. fans saved $6.11 million when buying tickets from the secondary market, instead of primary sellers like Ticketmaster. D.C. shouldn’t pass a bill that strengthens a monopoly and puts fans at risk.
Tell your D.C. Council member to reject the Resale Act and stand with fans, not Ticketmaster.
